About Clough Construction
As a young man Scott started building boats for his father's business. Scott also worked in the cabinet shop, building furniture while in high school. After high school Scott built boats for 4-5 years. While working on boats Scott rebuilt an Islander Yacht from a scrapped deck and hull. After moving to Marin County he started working for a company that built decks around spas. From the experience gained in the boating industry which has very specific requirements on detail, it was relatively easy for Scott to transition into building decks. Around this time Scott met Deanne, who worked for the company that sold the spas that the decks were built around. After gaining valuable experience, Scott got his contractor’s license and began working for himself. Clough Construction was initially a general construction firm, but in the 90s Scott began to focus on decks, fences and arbors. It is Scott's honor to provide stylish, cost effective decks with high functionality to his clients in Marin County.
Deanne’s first job was for a spa company in Mill Valley that sold spas and decks. Deanne has been intrigued by nature since she was young and has always wanted to build decks. Bridging nature and the home has always been one of Deanne’s passions, and building decks allows her to do this for a living. Deanne began working with Clough Construction in 1987, managing the office and is usually a client’s first contact with the company. Communication with clients is important to Deanne and she absolutely loves discussing their needs with them to help them find the best solutions. Deanne made the decision with Scott to move Clough Construction toward the path of sustainability by making it a Green Certified business. Using green building practices is very imporant to Deanne and puts Clough Constuction in alignment with her values.
